The HarHar Kashi mission is dedicated to helping Hindu families guide their departed loved ones toward Moksha, the ultimate spiritual liberation. This is achieved through a series of sacred rituals, including Asthi Visarjan Pooja, Pind Daan, and Shradh, performed at the holy Ganges River in Varanasi, also known as Kashi or Banaras, as well as in Gaya and Allahabad (Triveni). These practices are deeply rooted in the teachings of the revered texts "Garur Puran" and "Smriti Shastra," as they are carried out on behalf of the deceased's family members.
The post-mortem rituals, particularly Pind Daan, hold great significance in Hinduism and are conducted in the sacred waters of the Ganges. Varanasi, Banaras, or Kashi are the ideal locations for these ceremonies, believed to grant salvation or Moksha to the departed souls. It is widely held that performing the last rites in Varanasi liberates the soul from the cycle of birth and rebirth, regardless of the place of death. The Varanasi Ghats, lining the Ganges River, witness daily Pind Daan rituals that have continued for centuries.
The responsibility of Asthi Visarjan is undertaken with utmost care and urgency, as family and relatives play a crucial role in Hindu traditions. These spiritual obligations are integral to the Hindu way of life. Asthi Visarjan is one of the most essential and mandatory rituals in the Hindu religion.
Pind Daan is another significant ceremony conducted for the deceased. Much like Asthi Visarjan, Pind Daan aims to provide solace to the departed soul on its journey through spiritual evolution. This ritual helps the soul detach from its earthly bonds, as clinging to these attachments can cause the soul great distress. Pind Daan is a means to allow the soul to find peace.
The act of "Shradh" is performed by a capable descendant of the deceased family with unwavering faith. Shradh ceremonies in Varanasi or Gaya are conducted for the benefit of three generations of the family: the father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
